Description
Summary:The article considers the role of satellite data in the process of scientific justification of the creation of objects of the nature reserve fund (NRF) of Ukraine. The authors analyze the existing geoinformation systems of some NRF objects and the requirements for scientific support of such projects. Considerable attention is paid to the use of satellite images, digital terrain models and cartographic analysis tools for determining boundaries, classifying land cover and monitoring the state of ecosystems. The article presents practical experience in designing the Teresvyanska Dibrova (oak groves) forest reserve in the Transcarpathian region, where a wide range of geospatial methods was applied - 3D terrain modeling, land cover classification using Sentinel-2, determining the type of forest stands using high spatial resolution images. Examples of the implementation of GIS/remote sensing technologies in other regions of Ukraine are given, in particular in the Chornobyl Nature Reserve, Shatsk Biosphere Reserve of Volyn region, Dvorichansky and Slobozhansky national parks of Kharkiv region. The importance of satellite data for environmental monitoring, management decision-making and public involvement in nature protection is demonstrated. The article is a contribution to the development of a methodology for scientific support for the creation and functioning of the objects of the Nature Reserve Fund of Ukraine.
