Наведено варіаційне узагальнення проблеми інфіиітезимальних геодезичних деформацій поверхонь в евклідовому просторі E 3. Внаслідок поворотної деформації образ кожної геодезичної кривої є ізопериметричною екстремаллю повороту (в головному наближенні). Результати детально пов'язані з поворотно-конформними деформаціями. Застосування цих результатів наведено в механіці пружних оболонок.
