On the basis of these facts one establishes the inaccuracy of the solution, obtained by T. Craven and G. Csordas, to S. Karlin's problem on the characterization of linear transformations that do not increase the number of zeros and also the incorrectness of M. Kostova's certain results, given in L. Iliev's monograph “Laguerre entire functions” (Sofia, 1987).

Доказано, что композиция многочлена с последовательностью множителей первого рода может приводить к уменьшению числа действительных корней этого многочлена, и что величины, обратные моментам неотрицательной функции на [0, 1], могут не образовывать последовательность множителей первого рода. На основании этих фактов установлена ошибочность полученного Т. Кревеном и Дж. Шордашем решения проблемы С. Карлина о характеризации линейных преобразований, не увеличивающих количества нулей, а также неверность некоторых результатов М. Костовой, приведенных в монографии Л. Г. Илиева «Целые функции Лагерра» (София, 1987). Доведено, що композиція многочлена з послідовністю множників першого роду може приводити до зменшення числа дійсних коренів цього многочлена, і що величини, обернені до моментів невід’ємної функції на [0, 1], можуть не утворювати послідовність множників першого роду. На основі цих фактів встановлена помилковість одержаного Т. Кревеном та Дж. Шордашем розв’язку проблеми С. Карліна про характеризацію лінійних перетворень, що не збільшують кількості нулів, а також неправильність деяких результатів М. Костової, наведених у монографії Л. Г. Ілієва «Целые функции Лагерра» (Софія, 1987).
