Summary:UDC 517.98 We generalize the relationship between the strong one-dimensional real moment problem and the spectral theory of  Jacobi-type  block matrices for the two-dimensional case. An analog of Jacobi-type matrices corresponding to the problem in this formulation is proposed, and the corresponding system of polynomials orthogonal with respect to a measure with compact support on the real plane is described.
