Summary:UDC 517.925.51, 681.5.03 We study the problems of estimation of the weighted damping level of bounded disturbances and spectrum localization for linear descriptor systems with indefinite initial vector. In terms of linear matrix inequalities, we establish criteria and sufficient conditions for the validity of the desired estimation of the generalized performance measure and localization of the system spectrum in a given region of the complex plane. New methods  are proposed for the synthesis of static state and output controllers guaranteeing the validity of the indicated properties of the closed-loop descriptor system. We also present a numerical example of descriptor control system.
