Abstract. The purpose of the work is to analyze the current problems of renewable energy based on the materials of the 24th International Scientific and Practical Conference "Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in the 21st Century". Reports relat-ed to general issues of the use of renewable energy sources, including their integrated use, were considered. The main direc-tions of research in the field of renewable energy are analyzed. Current issues include: legislative field, organizational measures; achievement of energy efficiency, energy management; needs for balancing energy systems with a high share of renewable generation; mathematical support of tasks for assessing the possibilities of renewable energy; taking into account the characteristics of energy consumption; technical features of combined energy systems; interaction of science and industry in the implementation of innovative developments. Prospects and directions for further research are outlined.
