Summary:The paper examines the possibility of providing electrical energy to pumping stations due to solar energy during blackout from the external network. The main schemes of using solar energy for water supply needs are considered. An assessment of the economic efficiency of the projects of hybrid solar power plants for two pumping stations located in the southern regions of Ukraine was carried out.It has been established that the clean water tank can be used as an additional storage system. This makes it possible to more effectively use the generation of the solar power plant due to better consistency with the load schedule and thereby improve the economic performance of the project as a whole. Due to the generation of a significant surplus of electrical energy in the summer months, the use of solar energy as the main source of energy throughout the year is impractical.Due to the high cost of batteries, the payback period of hybrid solar stations is from 10 years, which makes them less attractive compared to network ones (3-4 years). Given the fact that these projects are aimed at preventing possible humanitarian disasters due to the cessation of water supply to the population, such a payback period can be considered quite acceptable.
