Summary:This study numerically investigates a solar absorption chiller coupled with a cylindro-parabolic (parabolic-trough) collector to air-condition an amphitheater at Ibn Khaldoun University in Algeria’s High Plateaus, specifically the city of Tiaret, whose astronomical coordinates recorded by the Ain Bouchakif meteorological station are: 35.21° N latitude, 1.28° E longitude, and 1000 m altitude, for a summer day in July. The hourly evaluation of the chiller’s solar coefficient of performance (SCOP) over the summer day considered the region’s solar irradiance and the thermal characteristics of the solar collector, whose geometric and physical properties were selected for this purpose. The solar COP obtained for our system reached approximately 0.4736, a considerable and acceptable value.
