Description
Summary:The global problem of the drinking water shortage is considered, and the main properties of existing water desalination and distillation technologies, based on "humidification-dehumidification" devices, are analyzed. An innovative experimental rig for the distilled water production, based on the Maisotsenko cycle (M-cycle) with a cross-flow scheme, has been developed and tested. The design of a single-stage prototype is described, the test results and energy performance are presented. The possibility of the water condensate production with an energy consumption of 11.9 kWh/m³ is experimentally confirmed. The prospects for the equipment improvement when using the multi-stage distillation scheme are considered.
