Summary: The main theme of the work of the department of geoecology and prospecting researches of the IGN of the NAS of Ukraine is the study of the hydroecological state of industrial regions on the basis of a hydrological, hydrogeological and hydrochemical monitoring system using GIS technologies and mathematical modeling; the development of methods and the creation of a hardware complex of express methods for the detection of fault zones of increased rock permeability. The department has developed more than 100 successful projects in the oil and gas sector, in particular, the contours of the Subbotin deposit on the Black Sea shelf have been determined; a comprehensive assessment of the prospects for oil and gas production at the BoltyshskyAstroblem site is given. More than 300 successful projects have been developed for the search for groundwater at 100% success; more than 10 projects related to coal mines, in particular the assessment of explosive problems at the mine Zasyadko; more than 20 projects of environmental monitoring and integrated environmental studies, in particular assessment of the geoecological and hydroecological state of the Oleskaya area; an assessment of environmental risks at the territory of the Chernobyl and Rivne NPP is given.
