Chemistry, Physics and Technology of Surface| Summary: | Composite materials based on the carbon fiber containing surface oxides and hydroxides as well as metal particles in chitosan film have been obtained by cathode deposition method with the fiber as an electrode. Preparation of the composites has been carried out in two ways: simultaneous deposition of chitosan and metal-containing particles or electrodeposition of metal-containing particles on the carbon fibrous electrode pre-modified with chitosan. The composites have been studied by the X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy methods. It has been shown that the composites of metal oxide/chitosan/carbon fiber includes metallic nickel and amorphous hydroxide whereas copper is presented as metal and oxides. Moreover, formation of Cu(II) complexes with chitosan on the carbon fiber surface is also possible. |
