Description
Summary:Low-temperature 1H NMR-spectroscopy has been used to study the structure of water clusters bound to silica  surface in nonpolar, weakly polar and polar media in a wide temperature range. It has been found that the organic medium affects the associativity of water clusters. The most hydrophobic environment increases the associativity degree of water compared to bulk but chloroform reduces the associativity. The maximum clusterization of interfacial water takes place only at certain ratio of hydrophobic and hydrophilic components.
