| description | On July 4, 2025, Professor Felix Yosypovych Danilov, a prominent Ukrainian scientist and a renowned figure in the field of electrochemistry, celebrated his 85th birthday. Professor Danilov is a Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Honored Scientist of Ukraine, recipient of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology, Professor of the Department of Physical Chemistry, and Chief Researcher at the Research Institute of Galvanochemistry at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies.
Over the course of more than fifty years, he has skillfully combined scientific research, teaching, and organizational activities. His academic path began with early electrochemical research on manganese deposition during his student years at the Dnipropetrovsk Institute of Chemical Technology. Later, under the supervision of Professor M.O. Loshkarev, he continued his research as a postgraduate student.
Professor Danilov defended his PhD thesis in 1967 and his doctoral dissertation in 1985, both focused on the kinetics and thermodynamics of metal electrodeposition in the presence of surface-active substances. His scientific achievements laid the groundwork for advanced surface engineering technologies, including zinc, cadmium, and chromium electroplating, as well as the deposition of various other metals and alloys.
He developed several original methods for studying electrode adsorption processes, introduced a temperature-adsorption approach for evaluating thermodynamic parameters of surfactant adsorption, and revealed the nature of the so-called compensation effect.
Under his leadership, the Research Institute of Galvanochemistry was established in 1975. He served as its director from 1994 to 2023. From 1986 to 2013, he also chaired the Department of Physical Chemistry. Professor Danilov’s scientific output includes more than 550 publications and 60 patents. As of July 2025, the Scopus database lists 204 of his publications, with over 3,680 citations and an h-index of 32 – the highest at his university and among the top in Ukraine.
He is actively involved in the scientific community, serving as chair of a doctoral dissertation defense board, member of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE), vice-president of the Ukrainian Electrochemical Society and the Ukrainian Association of Corrosionists, and editor-in-chief of the journal Voprosy Khimii i Khimicheskoi Tekhnologii (Issues of Chemistry and Chemical Technology). His colleagues and students admire his integrity, high standards, and lifelong devotion to science.

4 липня 2025 року відзначив 85‑річний
ювілей Фелікс Йосипович Данилов – ви‑
датний український науковець, енергійний
організатор національної школи електрохі‑
мії, заслужений діяч науки і техніки Украї‑
ни, лауреат Державної премії в галузі науки
і техніки, доктор хімічних наук, професор
фізичної хімії та головний науковий спів‑
робітник НДІ гальванохімії Українського
державного університету науки і техно
логій.
Понад півстоліття проф. Данилов поєд‑
нує активну наукову діяльність, викладан‑
ня й управлінську роботу. Ще під час нав‑
чання в Дніпропетровському хіміко‑техно‑
логічному інституті (ДХТІ), де він працю‑
вав під керівництвом проф. В. В. Стендера,
молодий науковець зробив перші кроки
в електрохімічній науці, вивчаючи зако‑
номірності електроосадження марганцю.
Після закінчення інституту він набув важ‑
ливого практичного досвіду на інженерних
посадах у гальванічному цеху всесвітньові‑
домого Південного машинобудівного заво‑
ду, а з 1964 року продовжив наукову підго‑
товку в аспірантурі ДХТІ під керівництвом
проф. М. О. Лошкарьова.
У 1967 році Фелікс Йосипович успіш‑
но захистив кандидатську дисертацію, а
в 1985 році – докторську, присвячені ви‑
вченню кінетики й термодинаміки елек‑
троосадження металів за присутності
поверхнево‑активних речовин. Ці праці,
виконані на найвищому теоретичному та

експериментальному рівні, здобули високу
оцінку провідних електрохіміків того часу.
Наукові результати проф. Данилова ляг‑
ли в основу сучасних гальванічних проце‑
сів: цинкування, кадміювання, хромуван‑
ня, осадження інших різноманітних мета‑
лів і сплавів, сучасні методики підготовки
поверхні та електрохімічне полірування
тощо. Він запропонував низку унікальних
методик дослідження адсорбції на елект
родах, ввів температурно‑адсорбційний
підхід для визначення термодинамічних
характеристик адсорбції ПАР і вперше роз‑
крив механізм «компенсаційного ефекту» в
таких системах.
У 1975 році за його ініціативою було
засновано Проблемну науково-дослідну
лабораторію електроосадження металів
(нині – НДІ гальванохімії), яку проф. Да‑
нилов очолював упродовж багатьох років.
Із 1994 до 2023 року він виконував обов’яз‑
ки директора цього інституту, а в 1986–
2013 рр. також був завідувачем кафедри фі‑
зичної хімії УДХТУ (з 2023 р. – Український
державний університет науки і техноло‑
гій), гідно продовжуючи наукові традиції
Л. В. Писаржевського, А. І. Бродського та
М. О. Лошкарьова.
Дослідження проф. Данилова зосере‑
джені на механізмах електроосадження
металів за присутності полімерних та по‑
ліелектролітних адсорбентів, розроблен‑
ню нових водних електролітів і викорис‑
танні іонних рідин, а також на фото‑ та
електрокаталітичних властивостях галь‑
ванічних покриттів. Під його науковим
керівництвом захистили дисертації понад
60 кандидатів і 6 докторів наук. Загалом у
доробку проф. Данилова – понад 550 пуб
лікацій і 60 патентів. Станом на початок
липня 2025 року в базі Scopus зареєстрова‑
но 204 його статті, що вже мають більш ніж
3 680 цитувань, а індекс Хірша дорівнює
32 – це один із найвищих показників ци‑
тування серед усіх електрохіміків сучасної
України.
Професор Данилов також відіграє клю‑
чову роль у науково‑організаційній сфе‑
рі: він очолює спеціалізовану вчену раду з
присудження наукового ступеня доктора
хімічних наук за спеціальністю 02.00.05
«Електрохімія», є членом Міжнародного
товариства електрохіміків (ISE), обіймає
посади віце‑президента Українського елек‑
трохімічного товариства та Української
асоціації корозіоністів, є членом бюро
наукової ради НАН України з проблеми
«Електрохімія». Професор Данилов також
є головним редактором журналу «Питання
хімії та хімічної технології» (фаховий жур‑
нал категорії «А», що індексується науко‑
метричною базою Scopus).
У 2019 році Указом Президента України
проф. Данилов спільно з колегами з низки
провідних університетів та інститутів НАН
України отримав Державну премію України
в галузі науки і техніки за видатний внесок
у розвиток сучасної електрохімії та елект
рохімічного матеріалознавства.
Його колеги та учні із захопленням і щи‑
рою повагою відзначають такі риси Фелікса
Йосиповича, як стійкість принципів, висока
вимогливість, бездоганна порядність, щиро‑
сердність і непохитна відданість науці.
Ми щиро вітаємо іменинника, бажаємо йому міцного здоров’я,
невичерпного творчого ентузіазму, нових значущих наукових досягнень
та радісних годин у колі родини і друзів.
