Problems of Control and Informatics| Zusammenfassung: | During combat operations, explosions and shots at close range cause the so-called barotrauma, which is combined with acoustic trauma and leads to significant hearing impairment and even deafness. Regular hearing testing of military and civilian residents of front-line regions will allow for timely detection of possible violations and seeking medical help. The purpose of the article is the further development of mobile systems for diagnosing hearing in the field based on speech audiometry. It is proposed to carry out an operational assessment of hearing using an information system based on special tests that involve the reproduction of words of paronyms that have different meanings but sound similar. Twelve tests of varying degrees of complexity have been implemented, which involve the reproduction of test words that correspond to official duties, for example, the paronyms «fight», «flight», «fright» for military personnel. For more reliable testing, sound files are distorted by such influences as random volume changes, changes in playback tempo, and the imposition of native interference typical of a combat situation (helicopter noise, sounds of gunshots and explosions, etc.). A feature of the information system is that the test words that the patient should hear are recorded in advance in the smartphone’s memory in the form of sound files that are played back using the smartphone’s headphones. This makes it possible to test the right and left ears separately. The result of the examination is an integral personalized characteristic of the hearing aid of the person being tested, which is based on the determination of individual statistical characteristics of errors and reactions to sound stimuli of the excitatory and inhibitory types. The use of the system in field conditions makes it possible to increase the combat effectiveness of soldiers due to adequate response to sound commands when performing communication functions in critical situations. |
