Marine Ecological Journal| Summary: | The present-day data of the mercury distribution investigation at the areas of the Black Sea methane gas seeps are shown. The profiles of vertical allocations of soluble, suspended and total mercury in the water column and bottom sediments at oxidizing and reducing zones are given as well. The comparison of mercury distribution in the water column and bottom sediments at different sea depths according to the acoustical registration of the gas bubble streams is taken. The results of mercury content in the pattern of carbonate constructions from the places of gas seeps are making. The findings of investigation have shown that there is a new source of mercury contamination in the Black Sea. |
