Description
Summary:New magnesium–air chemical power sources (3.0‑VMB‑7.5) have been developed. They feature unlimited shelf life and, after decades of storage, deliver practically 100% of their rated capacity. The sources are water‑activated, with an aqueous sodium chloride solution serving as the electrolyte. They are intended for single‑use continuous or intermittent discharge. Electrochemical reactions occurring at the electrodes during discharge are presented. A comparison of the electrical characteristics of the developed source with various types of dry cells shows that the new sources exhibit superior energy performance.
