Description
Summary:The article is devoted to the problems caused by the accelerated use of renewable energy sources (RES) and related accumulation of waste. The prospects of the coming years related to the needs of the energy transition to clean technologies and sustainable development are considered. The main attention is paid to the issue of renewable energy equipment disposal, especially wind and photovoltaic, after the end of their service life. The state of art in the world with recycling and extending the life cycle of RES materials is analyzed. The importance of implementing a closed cycle economy in the field of renewable energy and its role in the fight to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is emphasized. An analysis of the problems associated with waste disposal in solar and wind energy technologies was carried out. Given examples of innovative developments of wind turbine blades by leading companies to ensure disposal of waste materials and turbine components shows possible solutions. Regarding the waste of photovoltaic panels, an analysis of the current state with their disposal is given, as well as recommendations for the near future. Generalized recommendations have been provided on the basis of research carried out by leading experts for the implementation of measures on the use of RES waste.
